The ancient town of Tarsus in Mersin has seen many wars, many civilizations, and of course some of the most epic love stories in its 6000 years of (known) history! Additionally, its name hasn’t changed over time, making it one of the towns. The Hittite god Tarku is the source of the town’s name. This wonderful town has hosted some of the most important civilizations, such as the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and many others. It is also a significant location for Christians to visit as pilgrims due to its majestic St. Paul Church.
Tarsus has spectacular natural features including waterfalls, ancient mosques, prehistoric caves, and, of course, delectable regional food in addition to a rich past and venerated landmarks. It’s crucial to remember the legends.
